Sunday, December 4th 7:30 PM at the Brandon Valley Performing Arts Center
The Brandon Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Committee has offered their services to us to help with promotion of the concert. We have been added to the annual "Christmas in Brandon" week (November 28th through December 4th), which includes Santa Land and the Tour of Homes. The Tour of Homes brings in many people to the community, and the plan is to end the Tour about 30 minutes before the concert. Because of this, we are bumping the concert out to 7:30 PM to help accommodate. Essentially, we will be the grand finale to the "Christmas in Brandon" week! Thank you Brandon Chamber!
Joining the Chamber in sponsorship is the Brandon Valley School District. The school board has been very gracious to us, and they are excited about the cause we are supporting, the Red Cross. We greatly thank the board for their assistance!
The Mayor of Sioux Falls, Dave Munson, has offered his services at the concert. If schedules permit, he will be greeting guests and will say a prayer. We will very likely have him say a brief word about the charities we are supporting.
Doug Lund of KELOLAND news has agreed to be our emcee for the concert. Mr. Lund has extensive experience with this, and he will help make the concert even more entertaining. He will be gracing us with some singing also!
Shannon Collins, who has been performed with such acts as Ray Charles and Mel Tillis has been a good resource for us. She has helped us with the planning of the show and has some amazing contacts (Mayor Munson is one). It's very likely that she will sing for us also.
Regarding the musicians, we have had several people who have decided to perform with us. Kris Lauseng, a good friend and pianist was the first person who we asked to do this concert with us. She will perform often, and she is also a beautiful singer. Shawn Cable also of KELOLAND news will be performing. He is an excellent tenor. Marcella Dowie, a wonderful harpist from Luverne, Minnesota was one of the first musicians who offered to join us. We are very grateful to her. Her mother, Sandra, is a cellist, and she will play along side Marcella. That will be very beautiful. Christine Egan, a violinist in the South Dakota Symphony, will be playing several numbers with us. Also, her sister Laura, who is an excellent pianist, will be joining us for the evening. Ryan Egan will be playing percussion and will be arranging some songs for us. Leah Van Dam (Kooren), also a violist from the symphony, will be playing. Amy Vander Lugt will be assisting us on viola.
Our most recent addition is Robert Schneidewind, a classical guitarist. Rober has an extensive background in music, inclding playing in Carnegie Hall, touring with the National Arts Council, and teaching music theory and composition for over 20 yaers. I love classical guitar, so I am very glad he is willing to participate.
Please continue to spread the word! The concert keeps growing, and it is going to be fantastic! Word of mouth is going to be our best advertisement and we hope each of you can help us with that!
Please keep us in your prayers as we continue with the planning process, and we hope to see you all at the concert!
